Job Description

ECO Canada is looking for a performance-driven individual to join the team immediately. Reporting to the Manager, Technology and Applications, the successful candidate will have a passion for technology and a commitment to environmental sustainability.

The Co-op/Intern App Developer will support ECO Canada's technology infrastructure by ensuring the seamless operation of our systems and websites. Reporting to the Manager, Technology and Applications, this role is responsible for maintaining WordPress sites, implementing updates, customizing functionalities, and addressing technical issues. The position aims to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability, thereby facilitating the effective achievement of ECO Canada’s program objectives. Additionally, the role involves contributing to project documentation and keeping up to date with industry developments to support continuous technological advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain WordPress websites by applying regular plugin updates and version upgrades (as needed).

  • Customize and extend functionality by updating WP code (Elementor and Jet plugins) to allow feature updates.

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues related to WordPress plugins and themes.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in WordPress development.

  • Working on IT tickets, entails applying fixes to web application (.Net based), user account merges, pulling data lists and applying data updates using SQL queries. Training will be provided on these tasks.

  • Test new software applications and logging the bugs.

  • Assist in creating project documentation (such as process flows, user guides, ER diagrams, etc.) and contribute to the development of small components.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary or university program, preferably in a field related to technology, computer science, or software development.

  • Proficient in WordPress, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/jQuery and MySQL

  • Working knowledge of relational databases, Visual Studio, SQL and SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio), Node.js

  • Familiarity with responsive design principles

  • Strong understanding of website architecture and aesthetics

  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively

  • Highly motivated self-learner with a strong passion for mastering new technologies

  • Experience in Programming with .NET is an asset
