API Developer – Health Plan Systems

Our team of seasoned professionals is committed to driving innovation in healthcare systems integration, application development, and regulatory compliance.  AXIOM is seeking a highly skilled API Developer with a strong background in health plan operations and deep experience in C#, Azure Bicep, and Azure Service Bus. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience rewriting legacy processes and modernizing systems in a health plan environment. A solid understanding of the claims process is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using C#/.NET in a Microsoft Azure environment.
• Create and manage infrastructure-as-code using Azure Bicep for consistent and scalable deployments.
• Implement and manage messaging solutions using Azure Service Bus for event-driven architecture.
• Analyze, refactor, and rewrite existing business processes and services to optimize performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, DevOps, and solution architects.
• Leverage knowledge of health plan operations and the claims lifecycle to build efficient and compliant solutions.
• Ensure security, logging, and monitoring are integrated into all APIs and services.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, driving best practices in software engineering.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong emphasis on API development using C#/.NET.
• Experience in the healthcare payer space, specifically claims processing workflows.
• Proven expertise in Azure Service Bus and Azure Bicep.
• Strong background in rewriting/refactoring legacy applications and processes.
• Deep understanding of API standards, security (OAuth2, OpenID Connect), and versioning.
• Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., X12, HL7, FHIR).
• Experience working in agile or SAFe development environments.
• Certifications in Azure development or architecture.
