The Analyst, Portfolio Management, reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Management, provides critical support to the Portfolio Management Team within the Asset Management Group (AMG) in the administration of mortgage investments made by a broad investor network. This role is ideal for individuals seeking to build or expand their foundation in real estate finance, with exposure to a diverse portfolio and investor base.

This position is full time in-person based out of our St. Albert office.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Real Estate, Urban Planning and Development, Economics).
  • Experience in the Commercial Real Estate Industry is an asset.
  • Experience as a default analyst is considered an asset.
  • Excellent financial analysis skills, including the ability to review and interpret corporate financial statements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools is an asset.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team setting.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt in a rapidly changing environment with shifting deadlines and priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and distribute investor-specific and portfolio-wide reporting on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Assist in the review of interest reserve sufficiency for construction and bridge loans, including preparing Interest Reserve Sufficiency reports for stakeholder review.
  • Support the completion of annual and periodic reviews of mortgage facilities held by investors, including:
    • Reviewing annual financial and personal net worth statements for loan sponsors (borrowers and/or guarantors).
    • Reviewing property-specific reporting, such as rent rolls, operating statements, CMHC affordability analysis and supporting documentation.
    • Reviewing leasing and sales reports.
    • Preparing updated underwriting and up-to-date proforma analyses as applicable.

Asset Oversight & Administration

  • Oversee the performance of assets and/or projects securing AMG mortgage investments, monitoring key metrics and identifying risks or opportunities for optimization.
  • Facilitate renewals, assumptions, and amendments of mortgages held with AMG investors.

Team Collaboration & Support

  • Provide support to Documentation, Funding, and Servicing teams within the AMG Group as required.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Portfolio Management and other team members to ensure best-in-class service and reporting for investors.
