Introduction
  • Work hours: Vary; however, we run programs on evenings between 6 pm- 9 pm and weekends 10 am-9 pm 
  • Work days: Th, Fri, Sat, Sun (approximately 15-20 hours a week) 
  • As an Social Experience Guide ("SEG"), you'll be at the forefront of building a community filled with acceptance, meaningful relationships, and unforgettable life experiences.   • The Social Experience Guide position is perfect for those who are looking for consistent part-time work, with around 20 hours a week available. There are opportunities to increase your hours if you are interested.

Responsibilities
  • Uphold and nurture AAFS’ commitment to safety for all individuals across all programs. 
  • Provide transportation for our members from their school to our clubhouse using one of our fleet vehicles.*
  • Engage in group activities with members, fostering their participation and facilitating meaningful connections.
  • Fulfills and actively contributes to shared leadership responsibilities during activities, as defined by AAFS’ Shared Leadership principles.
  • Promote and empower members and staff to advocate for themselves.
  • Provide active assistance to members in enhancing their social thinking and life skills.
  • Contribute daily notes and member profile edits through our internal software, Break the Barrier.
  • Collaborate with other SEGs, volunteers, and youth to ensure timely and thorough cleaning of all spaces after an activity.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized environment for the benefit of all participants.
  • Participate in training sessions and actively acquire the skills and knowledge required for the position.
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings, including Summit Training Days
  • Embrace a flexible mindset and willingly undertake any additional duties that the organization requires.

Job Qualifications
  • Due to the nature of our work, we require all applicants to be 18 years or older.
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta driver's licence, clear of any offences. You must have three years of uninterrupted vehicle insurance coverage (to qualify for our policy). - this places you at the top of our hiring list
  • You must demonstrate a solid commitment to inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.
  • Ability to begin tasks independently.
  • You feel compelled to take action in the workplace without requiring additional prompting.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of data entry.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits patience and understanding while being sensitive to a member’s needs
  • Strong desire to help people and improve their daily lives.
