Position Overview:

The AFL Residential Provider provides essential care, support, and supervision to individuals living in a residential setting. The primary goal is to help residents achieve greater independence, improve their quality of life, and ensure their physical, emotional, and social well-being in a safe and nurturing environment. The role requires active engagement with residents, implementation of care plans, and assistance with daily living activities.


Key Responsibilities:

1.     Resident Support:

o   Assist residents with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, and medication management.

o   Provide emotional support and encouragement to help residents develop and maintain independence.

o   Facilitate activities that promote social interaction, personal development, and community integration.

o   Monitor and support residents in achieving their individual goals outlined in care plans.

2.     Behavioral and Health Monitoring:

o   Observe and document the physical, emotional, and behavioral needs of residents.

o   Implement strategies and interventions as outlined in individual care or behavior plans.

o   Respond to emergencies or incidents, including behavioral crises, health concerns, or injuries, and seek appropriate medical or emergency assistance when needed.

3.     Record Keeping and Documentation:

o   Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of resident care, daily activities, incidents, and any changes in behavior or health status.

o   Ensure that all documentation complies with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

4.     Team Collaboration:

o   Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to create, implement, and review individualized care plans.

o   Attend and contribute to team meetings, care plan reviews, and staff training.

o   Collaborate with family members, healthcare providers, and community services to ensure that residents' needs are met.

5.     Health & Safety:

o   Ensure the safety of residents by adhering to all safety protocols, including fire drills, building maintenance, and emergency procedures.

o   Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and comfortable living environment.

o   Administer first aid as needed and ensure proper hygiene and infection control practices.

6.     Personal and Social Development:

o   Encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities, such as hobbies, recreation, or vocational training, that promote independence and community involvement.

o   Support residents in developing social skills and positive relationships with peers and community members.


Qualifications:

·       Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional certifications in human services, social work, or related fields preferred.

·       Experience: Previous experience in caregiving, direct support, or working with individuals with disabilities or mental health background is preferred.

·       Skills:

o   Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

o   Ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse needs and backgrounds.

o   Patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills.

o   Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

o   Knowledge of basic first aid, CPR, and emergency response.

·       Certifications (if applicable):

o   First Aid/CPR certification.

o   Behavioral management or crisis intervention training required.


Working Conditions:

·       The position involves working evenings, weekends, or holidays, depending on the facility’s schedule.

·       Physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods may be required.

·       The role may also involve working with individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviors or require specialized health care.
