Job Summary
Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Admissions Counselor. The schedule is Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm, with weekends as needed. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for performing a wide variety of client care activities and must function in any program of the agency in accordance with state law. The Admissions Counselor has the main responsibility of maintaining communication with referral sources, court systems, and other involved human service providers as related to the client’s ongoing treatment and discharge planning. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for working within the multidisciplinary team to screen potential clients for admission and re-admission and all written documentation as required by the agency, state and federal courts, and all funding sources. The Admissions Counselor participates in Performance Improvement activities as assigned.
Responsibilities and Duties
It is the duty and responsibility of the Admissions Counselor to:
- facilitate referrals for treatment, process intakes, complete eligibility screens for potential clients, work with referral sources to ensure clients are suited and prepared for treatment, provide group therapies weekly if needed, individual counseling, and when appropriate, family therapy;
- provide group therapies daily, individual counseling, and/or family therapy as outlined in treatment plans; co-lead group therapies; conduct family assessments/therapy;
- function as a liaison to outside agencies, participate in case planning conferences, treatment meetings, attend court hearings, and represent the Agency and clients when necessary;
- maintain clinical case file for each client to include assessments, initial treatment plan, case notes, and discharge summaries and ensure all written reports are up-to-date in case files;
- attend staff and other meetings;
- maintain contact with and is available to Agency personnel, client’s drug court officer, and family members as needed regarding client’s progress, problems, and crises;
- provide crisis management when indicated by client need;
- attend regularly scheduled in-service training;
- complete administrative projects;
- assist with the planning and organization of therapeutic client activities on and off the main campus;
- maximize and maintain contract units of service by working with clients to stay engaged in treatment;
- adhere to all Louisiana Department of Health and Agency contract requirements;
- maintain COA standards;
- apply ASAM criteria to treatment planning and working with Magellan initial authorization and concurrent authorizations;
- coordinate and work with other departments;
- maintain individual licensing requirements and participate in electronic medical record documentation;
- treat clients and other staff with dignity and respect;
- complete work in allotted amount of time; and
- perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
Minimum qualifications include the following:
- Master’s degree in Clinic Social Work, Counseling, or related Human Service field from an accredited Program
- A valid Louisiana license in either counseling, addiction counseling, or social work
- Demonstrated interest in working towards highest level of Louisiana licensure within discipline
- Skilled in individual and group therapy modalities
- Experience in substance abuse treatment modalities and assessment tools
- Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills
