Director of Admissions - Skilled Nursing Facilities (Multi-State)
Position Overview
The Director of Admissions is responsible for leading and coordinating admissions operations across our portfolio of multiple skilled nursing facilities spanning two states. This executive-level position develops standardized admissions protocols, ensures regulatory compliance across varying state jurisdictions, and drives strategic initiatives to optimize occupancy and revenue across the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee admissions programs and policies for all facilities across multiple states
- Develop and implement organization-wide strategies to maximize appropriate admissions and census management
- Establish standardized best practices while accommodating state-specific regulatory requirements
- Build and maintain relationships with regional healthcare networks, hospital systems, and referral partners
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and reimbursement environments across different regions
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of facility-level admissions teams, providing guidance and support
- Create and track KPIs for admissions across all facilities, identifying opportunities for improvement
- Coordinate with regional directors to implement unified admissions protocols and procedures
- Lead training initiatives for admissions staff throughout the organization
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations and varying state-specific requirements
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align admissions strategies with organizational goals
- Oversee the development and utilization of centralized admissions technologies and systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or related field preferred
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive admissions experience in skilled nursing facilities, with at least 3 years in multi-site management
- Demonstrated success in managing admissions across multiple facilities or regions
- Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance systems across multiple states
- Experience with healthcare regulations in multiple jurisdictions
- Strong understanding of census management and revenue cycle in skilled nursing environments
- Proven leadership ability with experience managing geographically dispersed teams
- Advanced analytical skills and proficiency with healthcare data systems
- Excellent strategic planning and implementation abilities
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
Travel Requirements
- Frequent travel (40-50%) to facilities across multiple states
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Director of Operations
- Supervises Regional Admissions Coordinators
Schedule
- Full-time executive position with flexible schedule
- Availability for virtual meetings across multiple time zones
- Weekend and evening availability as needed for urgent matters
