Our team includes ten outstanding Board Certified Gastroenterologists, with a combined experience of over 100 years of treating patients.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable and Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the medical billing process and possess excellent analytical and communication skills. This position plays a key role in managing the billing cycle, ensuring timely and accurate posting of payments, resolving claim denials, and maintaining strong relationships with both patients and insurance carriers.

Location and hours: 2001 2nd Avenue Suite 101, Summerville SC 29486

                                 Mon-Thursday: 8:00am- 5pm   Fridays: 8:00am-1pm

Key Responsibilities:

  • Post and reconcile insurance payments (ERA, credit card, and checks)
  • Post patient payments accurately and timely
  • Monitor, analyze, and resolve claim denials, rejections, and scrubs
  • Prepare and submit payer appeals and corrected claims
  • File claims and handle payer recoupments and refund requests
  • Prepare and process bank deposits
  • Respond to patient and insurance inquiries via phone in a professional manner

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant healthcare billing/accounts receivable experience involving patient interaction
  • Proficiency in the full medical billing cycle and insurance follow-up processes
  • Able to read and interpret insurance carrier EOBs, and take appropriate follow-up action
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with benefit and eligibility issues from various insurance carriers
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HIPAA compliance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and perform in a fast-paced team environment
  • Professional demeanor with both insurance representatives and patients
