Peninsula Co-op is inviting applications for an Accountant position at our Support Office, located at 2261 Keating X Rd, Saanichton, BC. This role is a full-time permanent opportunity and primarily involves working Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends required during peak periods, such as the fiscal year-end.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate will join our financial reporting team with the following qualifications: a minimum of one year of full-cycle accounting experience, including reviewing financial statements, preparing reports, conducting margin analysis, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing journal entries; a degree in business administration with a focus on accounting (or completion within six months); experience in completing year-end files; and knowledge of internal controls, GST, and PST. The perfect fit is a highly self motivated, detail-oriented, and well-organized individual with strong professional judgment, leadership, and analytical skills. Strong computer knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, OneDrive, and SharePoint, is required, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines and customer service experience are also essential.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
You will be working with a team to complete the financial reporting for 31 fuel, liquor, and grocery locations. Responsibilities include completing reports, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations; providing internal customer service; supporting and assisting department managers and staff with period end inventory evaluation and margin calculations, and purchase records reconciliations; involvement in internal and external audit processes; assisting with preparation of the annual budget; and providing support to other finance roles.
The ideal candidate is interested in pursuing a CPA designation. Peninsula Co-op is committed to supporting the accountant with up to 100% cost reimbursement of classes through our tuition assistance program!
