 Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for the processing of the agency’s bi-weekly payroll.  She/he applies federal and provincial legislation to payroll, contributes a payroll perspective to organizational policy, and communicates the payroll compliance requirements to various parties.  In addition, this position is responsible for Bank Reconciliations, monthly revenue reconciliation and GL entries, monthly and yearly analysis and reconciliation of various accounts, and ensure other assigned tasks are followed up and completed. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review Accounts Payable and Visa Entries.
  • Review HST filing and make sure HST rebate is calculated correctly.
  • Perform various reconciliations and prepare related GL entries.
  • Assist in periodic reports for external funders and record related entries.
  • Assist in internal cycle reviews.
  • Assist in month end and year end closing.
  • Ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Assist in projection and budgets.
  • Assist in Annual Information Return (T3010).
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing an accounting designation – senior level.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment, preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of HST legislation and filings.
  • Experience in Sage AccPac (GL, AP and Bank Service) is a must.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite includes: Excel (advanced), Word (intermediate).
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and orientation to detail is required.
  • A quick learner and a self-starter.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work in an environment with competing priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Able to be flexible, and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
