Account Manager, Contract Surety

The successful candidate will provide service excellence to our customers and insurance markets by servicing and maintaining the existing portfolio as well as pursuing new business. How you will be Successful
- Act as primary client contact in coordination with the Producer or Account Executive
- Own and be responsible for meeting or exceeding client expectations of PLATFORM
- Review client bid specifications, determine and execute prequalification, tender and finals bonds & other client requests:
- Ensure timeframe required by client is met;
- Ensure client has the requested and surety-approved documents ahead of tender deadlines;
- Prepare, secure authority for, and invoice all final bond requests consistent with Platform’s rules and procedures
- Adhere to all surety authorities as they are furnished, updated and amended from time to time
- Adhere to all surety power of attorney regulations as may be vested to you from time to time
- Ensure & verify all activities are correctly managed and inputted into Erlon and Epic
- Ensure & verify accuracy and completeness of all work prepared by the Account Associate
- Ensure & verify all pertinent documents and correspondence are retained and uploaded into Erlon or Epic as per Platform’s approved procedures
- Invoice final bonds in Epic concurrent with the issuance of the bond and secure confirmation of payment terms from the client relating thereto
- Request regularly prepared Statement of Accounts from the Account Associate team for submittal to the client as a reminder of outstanding premiums due
- Assume primary account responsibility for an agreed book of Surety accounts
- Coordinating with the Producer or Account Executive to determine appropriate renewal strategy as well as request and secure in-house and year-end financial reporting, or other underwriting information as may be requir
- Consistent with Platform’s procedures manual, compile and prepare renewal information required for the Producer or Account Executive, and coordinate delivery of this information to underwriters
- Prepare underwriting submissions for distribution
- Lead the brokering process for renewals and seek input and assistance from the Producer or Account Executive where required
- Ensure all ‘relevant’ markets are approached in a timely fashion
- Ensure renewal terms are secured and prepare renewal proposal
- Ensure and verify that all correspondence, communication, activities, policy documents, endorsements, applications and instructions are recorded in Epic or Erlon as per Platform procedures.
- Listen to client needs and issues
- Respond to those needs directly where possible
- Cross sell and penetrate additional business where possible
- Ensure all accounts are paid and current within 60 days of inception of coverage
- Request regularly prepared Statement of Accounts from the Account Associate team for submittal to the client as a reminder of outstanding premiums due.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- 1 - 3 years of construction and/or real estate insurance experience preferred
- Knowledge of Applied Systems EPIC Broker Management System is preferred
- Level 1 License (or equivalent Province-specific licensing) is preferred, not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team orientation with strong interpersonal skills
- Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
