21ST CENTURY – YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WORKER – MIDDLE SCHOOL
The 21st Century Youth Development Worker plays a key role in supporting middle school students through academic support, enrichment, and relationship-building in a high-quality out-of-school time program. This position is ideal for educators, future teachers, youth workers, or college students passionate about helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
This is a part-time position (16 hours/week, Monday-Thursday, 1:30-5:30) during the school year with potential for summer hours. $20.77 per hour.
What You’ll Do

Support a small group of middle school students during academic support (homework) time

Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to monitor student needs

Design and facilitate engaging enrichment activities aligned with program goals

Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that strengthens students’ connection to school

Model positive behavior, build strong relationships, and support social-emotional development

Participate in monthly staff meetings and ongoing professional development

Contribute to a team-focused, mission-driven program culture

Complete other related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in a BA program in a related field

Meets Massachusetts EEC (DEEC) School Age Group Leader qualifications

At least 1 year of experience working with children or in an out-of-school time setting

Ability to work with students in a nurturing, structured, and safety-focused environment
-
Enthusiasm, creativity, patience, and professionalism

Strong communication skills and openness to supervision and feedback
-
Ability to problem-solve and support conflict resolution in age-appropriate ways
-
Successful completion of a CORI background check

21st Century Middle School Program Coordinator* All South Shore Stars employees should be able to lift at least 40 lbs. and work in a non-sedentary environment.
