Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Director, Airside Operations and Emergency Services (Director) leads, directs, and oversees the day-to-day performance of all aspects of the Victoria Airport Authority's (VAA) airside operations, systems and services, and emergency management programs, including Airport Fire Service ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory compliance.

 

As a key member of VAA's management team, the Director contributes to the continuous safe and efficient operation of critical airport systems and services, ensuring they align with VAA's strategic priorities. The role includes operational planning, policy development, and performance management. The Director also manages relationships with a wide network of stakeholders and leads a multidisciplinary team of employees.

 

The ideal candidate is a skilled operations leader with significant experience managing all aspects of airside operations, emergency services, and regulatory requirements, including Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices.

 

They have a track record of success in business and operations planning, risk mitigation, project and budget management, and stakeholder engagement. A strong communicator and collaborative leader, the Director is known for fostering positive relationships with employees, regulators, and external partners.

 

As a role model for VAA's values, the Director will lead by example, champion safety, and continuously seek ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in airport operations. They are a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic and highly regulated environment.
