WebFOCUS Operations Administrator (OA)

  • Must have at least 4-6 years' experience in WebFOCUS Administration and/or WebFOCUS development with a desire to learn Administration


  • Must have strong administration and/or developer support skills in WebFOCUS 8.x product support in a Windows 2008/2012 environment and strong communication and documentation skills


  • Be able to lead and coordinate the design, development, implementation and support of specialized business and technical information technology solutions


WebFOCUS  Operations Administration Job Description:




  • Thorough understanding of the WebFOCUS product architecture and tools including Report Caster, Apache Tomcat, Resource Analyzer, Developer Studio and Application Studio
  • Establish and maintain a positive and constructive working relationship with clients, IBI support staff and colleagues
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Must be able to accept guidance and direction from clients and lead staff

  • Manage and implement WebFOCUS related migrations and roll-outs

  • Keep abreast of latest WebFOCUS technical developments from a vendor perspective

  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, HTML, XML, JSON

  • Monitor and troubleshoot WebFOCUS environment health

  • Ensure physical and virtual servers are configured, updated, backed up, etc. via ticketing system (ServiceNow), collaborating with intersecting organizations

  • Analyze test and implement new product releases

  • Assist with design and re-architect environment as necessary

  • Proactively suggest, design and implement continuous improvements

  • Work with IBI to keep our IBI lab environment up to date

  • Assist development staff with troubleshooting issues related to WebFOCUS

  • Responsible for all application assistance on the WebFOCUS reporting server, client, report caster and resource analyzer.

  • Required to follow all infrastructure roll-out schedules for WebFOCUS as well as provide a detailed impact analysis on each application within the infrastructure when required

  • Manage all security and audit related issues for WebFOCUS within the infrastructure

  • Manage, implement and test all Patch/Hot-Fix roll-outs and version deployments for WebFOCUS

  • Take a "pro-active” role in managing WebFOCUS related performance-issues within the environment

  • Actively engage with the vendor to manage customer related issues and escalations relating to the WebFOCUS product 


    Required Skills and/or Product Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of the WebFOCUS COTS product (4-6 years)

  • Experience with Report Caster, Apache Tomcat, Resource Analyzer, Reporting Server, and other IBI WebFOCUS products

  • Experience with WebFOCUS 8.x

  • Experience in optimizing report queries

  • Experience in managing the WebFOCUS reporting server in a complex infrastructure environment

  • Demonstration of initiative and results oriented with flexibility and tenacity, and the ability to continuously adjust priorities to reflect changing circumstances

  • Strong diplomacy, assertiveness, influencing skills with commitment and ability to work in a dynamic cross-organizational team environment

  • Strong dedication to provide quality customer service

  • Effective problem-solving skills and inherent decision-making ability

  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly identify the cause of issues with the system or determine if other teams need to be included in resolving an issue

  • Ability to manage own projects including communications to customers as well as work as part of a larger team managed by a WebFOCUS Admin Lead and a team project manager

  • Experience in configuration of LDAP and SSO

  • Experience in an ITIL environment, ITIL certified a plus

  • Strong dedication to provide quality customer service

  • Demonstration of initiative and results oriented with flexibility and tenacity, and the ability to continuously adjust priorities to reflect changing circumstances

  • Application administrator experience creating user accounts, product administration, monitoring server tasks including but not limited to installation, configuration, migration, tuning, and administration

  • Monitoring the application systems for issues with disk space, CPU usage, memory problems or other issues that may impact the end-users and system availability

  • Support of maintenance requests and report changes

  • Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL and DB2 databases and PL/SQL programs
