Geospatial Data Analyst & Manager

Biohabitats, a leading conservation planning, ecological restoration, and regenerative design and construction firm, is seeking a Geospatial Analyst & Manager to join our mission-driven team. With Bioregion offices nationwide, Biohabitats works throughout the country and internationally with public, private, and non-profit organizations to restore the earth and inspire ecological stewardship.

The Geospatial Analyst & Manager will be responsible for data collection, management, and analyses for a wide variety of project types and scales including watershed and ecological assessments, wetland delineation, restoration planning, climate resiliency, and integrated water strategies. Specific responsibilities include providing GIS administration and skills in ESRI suite of products; spatial analysis and mapping; field work support; and assisting in scoping tasks (level of effort and costs). Work will primarily focus on projects in our Eastern Bioregions with supporting services provided to our corporate administration needs as well as our Western Bioregions.

GIS administrative management including ESRI license management and technical support.
Strategic planning for future geospatial needs and services including data visualization, drone data processing, modeling, and programming.
Generating, managing, maintaining and quality controlling data that inform a wide variety of environmental and ecological projects.
Developing visually appealing and informative maps.
Developing working, interactive, online and cloud-based (ArcGIS Online) maps for a broad suite of efforts, including field assessments, client communication, community engagement and public interaction.
ETL data management of spatial and tabular data.
Automation of mapping and data management processes.
Creative implementation of spatial thinking, problem solving, solution generation and a desire to build such proficiencies.
Assisting with field work for natural resources assessments.

Required Skills:
Environmental, social, or ecological data experience.
Expert technical knowledge of: ESRI Suite of Products including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online; creation of high-quality cartographic products based on project-specific and client needs; geographic data and spatial data implementation; and mobile field application development and web GIS environments including ArcGIS Field Maps and similar applications.
Intermediate skills in database modeling and remote sensing.
Ability to collect GIS requirements from clients, communicate actionable solutions and create data management workflows to increase efficiencies.
Experience producing stakeholder engagement tools, storymaps, dashboards, and other outreach support materials.
Ability to determine hardware and software requirements necessary to meet demands.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, problem solving, and time management.

Helpful Skills:
Intermediate skills in computer programming and big data management.
Development, automation, and scripting experience.
Experience with Python 3.x and Python Notebooks.
Experience with other useful scripting languages, such as R, JavaScript, UNIX shell.
Knowledge of spatial computation including geospatial statistics and machine learning applications.
Environmental mobile field application preparation and field experience.
Experience or interest in collecting and processing UAV imagery.

B.S. in Geospatial Science, Geography, or related field. M.S. with experience in applications for environmental science or ecology preferred.

Years of Experience:
4+ years environmental geospatial analysis experience

Salary Range:
$70,000 – $75,000 (or commensurate with experience)

Baltimore, Maryland preferred but other Eastern Bioregion offices will be considered (Charleston, South Carolina; Cleveland, Ohio; or Glastonbury, Connecticut)
