Under the direction of the Executive Director the Medical Records Coordinator is responsible for preparing, compiling, maintaining, storing, and retrieving medical records on time..
This position requires a detailed knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems, and the ability to manage a large volume of patient information.
The Medical Records Coordinator must be organized and understand the importance of patient confidentiality.
The candidate must be able to work independently and maintain a high degree of accuracy.
Medical Records Coordinator Responsibilities:
Collect and manage patient information from medical providers and nurses
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of patient records
Monitor and maintain the accuracy of patient information in the medical records system
Manages the release of health information functions for the facility including review and processing of all requested information
Maintains a system for filing, retention, and destruction of records in compliance with State, Federal, and HIPPA guidelines
Qualifications/Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred credentialing as a Registered Health Information (RHIA); Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
At least 18 years old
