Job Overview
The Director of Sales & Revenue is responsible for generating revenue for the hotel by focusing on room sales, meetings and special events sales, and other forms of hotel-related revenue streams. This involves building and maintaining relationships with clients, understanding the market trends, and developing sales strategies to attract and retain customers. The role demands a blend of leadership, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the hospitality market. A successful Director of Sales & Revenue collaborates with different departments within the hotel to ensure guest satisfaction and optimal revenue generation.
Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients and travel agencies
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities
- Prepare and deliver presentations to potential clients
- Organize and attend sales meetings, trade shows, and networking events
- Negotiate contracts and close deals with clients
- Monitor and report on sales performance metrics
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction
- Handle customer complaints and ensure issues are resolved promptly
- Maintain CRM databases with updated client information
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies and procedures
· Develop and implement dynamic pricing strategies for transient, group, and catering segments to maximize Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR)
· Generate weekly, monthly, and annual revenue forecasts. Provide detailed reports on performance (e.g., pick-up, bookings pace, ADR, RevPAR) to leadership.
· Analyze competitor rates, market trends, and citywide demand generators (events, conferences) to adjust strategies.
· Manage distribution channels (OTAs, GDS, hotel website) to optimize the mix of business and ensure inventory availability.
· Work with Operations teams to align promotional activities, group booking strategies, and inventory limitations.
· Maintain and optimize Revenue Management Systems (RMS), Property Management Systems (PMS), and distribution tools.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in the hospitality industry, particularly in sales
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation and closing skills
- Proficiency with CRM software and sales databases
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets
- Knowledge of market trends and competitive landscape
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales within the hospitality industry
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and networking abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Reports PACE to General Manager in weekly Revenue Meeting
