JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 POSITION:               STAFFING COORDINATOR

 REPORTS TO:         DIRECTOR OF NURSING

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:


Responsible for scheduling and staffing of the nursing department

(RN’s, LPN’s and C.N. A’s).  Work closely with the Nursing Office and Administrator to maintain and assure the facility is staffed in accordance with all state and federal guidelines daily. Responsible for new hire orientation and appropriate paperwork completion.

 Education/background:

 A minimum of a high school diploma. Basic computer skills. A general understanding of the daily operations of a skill nursing facility.  The ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

 Job Responsibilities:

  1. Bi-weekly scheduling for Nurse’s and C.N.A.’s for Geriatric and Pediatric to be submitted to the Director of Nursing for approval.
  2. Assist staff with request for personal time off /emergency time off and scheduling that will not conflict with facility day to day operations.
  3. Maintain appropriate staffing levels and adjusting staffing in accordance with facility census.
  4. Maintain daily-staffing sheets based on the master schedule and update master schedule with call off’s and changes in staffing needs.
    1. Responsible for finding replacements for nursing staff Call-off’s while on duty.
    2. Assist nursing supervisor on an On-Call basis to find replacements for crisis situations.
    3. Calculating HPPD numbers in accordance with state regulation and maintaining records for facility inspections.  Submit daily records to the Administrator and Director of Nursing, fax to NuVision Management
  1. Maintaining individual nursing staff attendance sheets with call offs and leaves of absence.
  2.  Assist Director of nursing with hiring of new employees.
    1. Interviews
    2. Setting up new personnel files and submitting information to bookkeeping for processing and files to DON
    3. Maintaining and tracking employee’s evaluation: 90 days and yearly and submitting them to nursing supervisor for completion
    4. Monitoring and inform nursing office and staff of need for yearly physicals.
    5. Other related duties as assigned

 

Additional Duties:

  1. Bi-weekly Payroll
  2. Checking nursing staff time sheets for accuracy and submitting them to bookkeeping in a timely manner
  3. Monitoring staff for attendance counsels for absenteeism/ tardiness
  4. Assist the nursing office with clerical task-filing or other duties that do not require state license or certificate
  5. Additional duties may be given by the Director of Nursing or by the facility Administrator

 Working Conditions:

1.      Sitting, standing, bending, lifting and moving   intermittently during working hours

2.      Works in well lighted / ventilated office areas o the facility

3.      Subject to frequent interruptions

4.      Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary

5.      Attend and participate in continuing educational programs

6.      Subject to cuts, bruises, falls, odors, etc.

7.      May be subjected to infectious diseases, substances, contaminated articles, etc.

8.      Communicates with nursing personnel and other department personnel.

Health Requirements:

 Physical and skin test prior to employment.   Must show evidence of good health and free of communicable disease.

  1. Must have adequate vision and hearing
  2. Annual physical and skin test required
  3. Must to able to lift at least 50 lbs, must be able to bend and stretch. Standing and walking most of the day.
