Nursery Plants Team Member
Location: South Surrey – West Coast Gardens
Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm | 30–40 hours per week
Pay: $18-20/hr
Duration: March–June (possibility to continue into summer season)
About the Role:
West Coast Gardens is looking for a hands-on Plant Specialist to help maintain our trees, shrubs, and perennials in our retail garden centre. This is an active role focused on plant care, merchandising, and maintaining strong retail displays, working both independently and with the team to keep our nursery looking its best.
This position is ideal for someone with horticulture or garden centre experience who enjoys working outdoors, staying busy, and taking pride in well-maintained plants and displays.
Responsibilities:
Maintain the health and presentation of trees, shrubs, and perennials
Water, prune, deadhead, and care for plants to ensure they remain healthy and retail-ready
Work with both indoor and outdoor teams to ensure displays are compelling and consistently maintained
Assist the Retail Manager in maintaining seasonal outdoor displays and merchandising standards
Help customers when needed and ensure friendly, helpful service in the garden centre
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year experience in landscaping, a nursery, or garden centre
Strong plant knowledge and passion for horticulture
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in a physically active role, standing for long periods and lifting up to 30 lbs
Reliable transportation is recommended as the location is not accessible by bus
