Reporting to the Industrial Safety and Security Director, the Industrial Safety and Security Superintendent will be responsible for managing the planning, organization, direction, and control of the implementation, application, and coordination of all industrial safety and security activities.  He or she will ensure the safety of Windfall site operations while protecting the Company's assets. Will work a 7-7 schedule at the Windfall site. Transportation, accommodation, and meals provided. 

Duties and responsibilities                                        

  • Supervise the industrial safety and security team and emergency measures;
  • Implement and maintain an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS);
  • Evaluate, suggest, and implement industrial health and safety policies and programs for the industrial safety of the site and participate in the improvement of these programs;
  • Implement and maintain emergency and prevention plans and procedures for the entire site;
  • Provide advice to managers and employees on industrial health and safety and emergency measures;
  • Establish access and traffic procedures to enhance camp safety;
  • Participate in the development of risk analyses and investigations of potentially fatal category 4 or 5 incidents;
  • Take the necessary measures to prevent theft of equipment or explosives;
  • Conduct safety checks and compliance audits;
  • Develop the budget for your sector and monitor it throughout the year;
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies and rules at all times and ensure that staff comply with these rules;
  • Participate in the feasibility and implementation of health, safety, industrial security, and emergency measures for an operational mining site;
  • Perform any other duties related to the position of industrial safety and security superintendent that are relevant to the success of the project.

Required qualifications

  • University degree in occupational health and safety or a related field. A combination of experience and education may be considered;
  • Solid experience in health and safety as well as in mining operations or exploration;
  • Ten years of supervisory experience;
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Hold an explosives license.
  • Possess mining modules (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7).
  • Bilingualism (French and English), will be required to communicate with English-speaking consultants and suppliers
Technical skills

Knowledge of theft and crime prevention measures in industrial settings;
Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety and mining legislation;
Knowledge of SGSST;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Basic skills

Ability to demonstrate rigor and excellent analytical skills;
Strong positive leadership skills;
Good organizational, planning, and priority management skills;
Good written and verbal communication skills;
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
