OBJECTIVE:

Overall management and coordination of the operations and accounting activities of the bank’s mortgage lending division, including mortgage loan underwriting, processing, closing, post-closing and shipping functions.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for mortgage loan accounting, operations, servicing, investors services, loan administration, and customer service
  • Coordinates and assists loan officers in conducting Builder/Realtor sales meetings, open houses, luncheons and training seminars for the real estate community
  • Developing and implementing annual marketing plan including sales strategies, calling programs and improved market penetration methods
  • Represents the Bank by participating in industry related organizations (e.g. Home Builders Association and Board of Realtors) and public relations functions (e.g. present new loan programs related to FNMA, FHLMC, VA and FHA loans
  • Develops, reviews and recommends policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accounting guidance and to ensure the efficiency of all aspects of the divisions daily operations
  • Oversees and coordinates the accounting activities of the division with the CFO
  • Plans and schedules activities within the mortgage lending operations areas and coordinates activities with all other functional areas(IT, Compliance, Loan Operations, Audit, etc)
  • Oversight of operational systems and procedures related to mortgage loans
  • Controls and monitors the progress of all projects
  • Ensure compliance with the banks accounting policies and GAAP
  • Prepares assigned reports to the Board of Directors and various managers within the Bank
  • Prepares financial analysis on any proposed new products
  • Works with internal-external auditors and regulators as required
  • Administers the disbursement of funds to assist in controlling risks associated with the organization’s mortgage loan portfolio
  • Reviews loan approvals and commitments to ascertain funding requirements and restrictions
  • Keeps informed of trends and developments in mortgage lending, as well as changing rules and regulations pertaining to both private and government-insured mortgages
  • Possesses knowledge of FHA/VA regulations as well as conventional loan requirements and real estate law, as well as bank regulations and applies to the administration of mortgage loans
  • Oversight of the underwriting of loans and ensuring compliance with investors and Fannie/Freddie requirements
  • Responsible for oversight of the processing, closing, and shipping of all mortgages according to established regulations, investor guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Coordinates with management on foreclosures, modifications and other collection procedures
  • Other duties as may be assigned by CEO, President or Board of Directors

 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in a business related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of mortgage lending experience
  • 4 years in management role

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of all mortgage products and services, policies and procedures and related regulations, including reporting and audit requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to make complex decisions regarding a variety of financial activities
  • The strong inclination toward new business development and track record of significant success in establishing new customer relationships
  • In-depth knowledge of sales incentive programs
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to deal effectively with external corporate executives and Bank’s senior management
  • Advanced accounting skills necessary to perform complex reporting and financial analysis functions
  • Moderate computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Advanced written, oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to recognize and respond to sales opportunities, deliver persuasive sales presentations and supervise employees

Traditional retail office environment
