Medical Assistant – General Dermatology (with Surgical Support) | Full Time
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate Medical Assistant to join our dermatology practice. This role supports providers in medical dermatology visits and assists with in-office surgical and procedural dermatology, including biopsies and excisions.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced clinic environment, and passionate about providing excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Patient Care

Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain medical histories, including medications and allergies

Prepare patients for medical and surgical dermatology visits

Assist providers with general dermatology examinations and procedures, including real-time clinical documentation and scribing.

Provide post-procedure and wound care instructions

Answer patient questions and provide reassurance throughout visits
Surgical & Procedural Support

Assist providers with in-office dermatologic procedures such as:

Biopsies
-
Excisions
-
Cyst removals
-
Cryotherapy and other treatments
-

Prepare and maintain sterile fields for procedures
-
Prepare instruments, supplies, and medications
-
Handle and properly label specimens for pathology
-
Apply dressings and assist with suture removal
-
Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
Clinical Support & Room Management
-
Prepare and clean exam and procedure rooms between patients
-
Stock rooms with supplies and ensure equipment is functioning properly

Sterilize instruments according to infection control protocols
-
Assist with patient follow-ups and results communication
Administrative Support

Document patient care accurately in the (EHR) - Modernizing Medicine

Assist with scheduling appointments, follow-ups, and referrals

Manage patient flow to support efficient clinic operations

Answer phone calls and assist with patient inquiries as needed
Compliance & Safety

Adhere to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards

Follow infection control, safety, and OSHA guidelines

Maintain a clean, safe, and professional clinical environment
Qualifications:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred, not required
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
- Dermatology or procedural/surgical experience is a plus
- Experience with Mod Med EHR systems
