Job Summary

  • Serves food to patrons in a dining establishment

General Accountabilities

  • Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food 
  • Takes the customer’s order by writing it down or memorizing it
  • Presents order to the cooks on behalf of the patrons
  • Serves customers the pre-ordered food
  • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed
  • Totals bill and accepts payment or refers patron to Cashier
  • Clears or resets table at the end of each course
  • Thanks patrons and kindly invite them back for future dining

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma 
  • Some experience preferred

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand 
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to use hands 
  • Occasionally required to lift weights

Work Environment

  • Exposure to extreme heat
  • The noise level in the work environment usually is loud
