Certified Medical Assistant-FT/PT
Primary Responsibilities: • Will be supervised by a licensed medical Provider.
• Facilitate patient flow through the clinic. Many patients have the need for treatment from multiple providers. The Certified Medical Assistant/ Integrated Care Coordinator (ICC) will review the patient’s scheduled appointments and ensure that patients are assisted in meeting with each provider.
-ICC will participate in establishing the plan of treatment through direct communications with the patient’s providers to identify the need for integrated care scheduling.
No care decisions will be made by ICC.
• If a patient is seen for (MAT) Medicated Assisted Treatment and an antidepressant and blood pressure medication is prescribed, the ICC can inform providers and schedule the patient for a full assessment of their depression and hypertension to ensure their needs are being met.
• ICC will coordinate work-in assessments to meet patient needs whenever possible. In instances where this is not possible, the patient should be scheduled for the next available appointment.

• If patients need to be scheduled on a different day, the ICC will notify the patient and provider of an upcoming appointment so that medications can be sent to facilitate the appointment, when appropriate.
• ICC will explain the function of the health team members who will implement the plan of treatment for the patient. • ICC will review clinic policies when appropriate.
-ICC will work with the provider to ensure that patient tasks outside the appointment are delegated appropriately. • Any documents received will be given to the provider for immediate review. Once the document is signed off by the provider, and no additional action is required, it will be submitted to the office manager to be scanned by the close of business.
• When the need for a referral is identified (specialist, testing, imaging etc.) the request is to be submitted to referral coordinator for review, by the close of business.
• For labs ordered during a patient encounter that cannot be collected on the same day, the ICC will ensure that a written order is provided to the patient with provider instructions for collection. -Referrals/New Patients
• Provide a welcoming environment to all new referrals and new Patients.
• Ensure that psychiatry referrals are handled appropriately. All new referrals should complete new patient psychiatry paperwork. (CMA) Certified Medical Assistant will ensure all required information is complete and request records from previous providers or pharmacies, as necessary.
• A reasonable and timely effort should be made to schedule referred psychiatry or primary care patients within two weeks. New MAT referrals should be scheduled for the same day whenever possible.
• Track all psychiatry referrals to ensure that they are scheduled or rescheduled appropriately.
• Periodic review of patient roster to ensure that follow-up visits are scheduled.
• Under provider direction, ICC will make appropriate referrals for p -Labs/testing, misc.
• ICC will enter orders, such as Genesight, as appropriate. (i.e.-entering demographic info in portal)
• ICC will assist in preparation of pertinent clinical data /chart entry of forms etc., prior to provider review. No assessment or interpretation of data by ICC. ICC will have a provider available to review forms etc.
• ICC will assist in informing patients of prior authorization process.
