POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

We are seeking Arabic tutors for this school year, who are knowledgeable and qualified to assist students who are studying literature in the Arabic language. Tutoring sessions may be one-on-one or in a small group setting. All tutoring will occur on the Ridley campus in our Learning Centre. 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • First-language or fully fluent speaker of the Arabic language;

·       Meet with students, as needed, over the course of the year (at student discretion and based on tutor availability);

  • Sessions most often take place at the conclusion of a literary work and near major assessments due dates;
  • Converse with students about literary texts studied in the course;
  • Offer the student feedback on first language oral and written work;
  • Help assess mock oral examinations in collaboration with the subject supervisor;

·       It is expected that the tutor will have read the works studied by the students and be familiar with the course expectations;

·       Communicate with the family, Learning Strategies teacher and classroom teacher on a consistent basis;

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • 1 year of post-secondary education in the related field of study 
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques and learning styles
  • Tutoring experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to travel to Ridley College for student meetings
  • OCT considered an asset
