Position Background:
The driver operates a Pilot Truck in accordance with Provincial Safety Regulations
Core Duties:
- Safe and reliable operation of Truck and Trailer
- Pick-up and delivery of Client equipment to and from sites located in throughout Western Canada
- Operates a truck to safely and efficiently transport a variety of materials;
Responsible for the proper loading and securing of each commodity to prevent movement and allow for safe transportation of materialsResponsible for ongoing and effective communication with Ketek’s personnel, customers, and others regarding permits, routes, fuel stops, giving and receiving information and instructionsResponsible for daily completion of all required paperworkResponsible for performing pre-trip, inter-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and adjustments, preventive maintenance, tire chain-ups, and minor on-road repairs as neededResponsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle (interior and exterior)Fill required paperworkAbility to successfully complete safety training as required on an ongoing basisObserve all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective EquipmentEnsure that all of Ketek policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followedRepresent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission StatementsBe considerate of the needs of our community and the environmentPerform other related duties as requiredsafe and reliable operation of a Pilot Truck Pick-up and delivery of Client oversized equipment to and from sites located throughout Western Canada Operates a truck safely and efficiently transport a variety of over dimensional loads Working Conditions:
- Inside vehicle cab 60% to 70% of the time
- Outdoors up to 30% of the time, exposed to moderate to severe weather conditions, temperature extremes, ice, rain, snow, blowing dust etc.
- Hazards include moving objects/vehicles, burns, toxic/caustic chemicals and petroleum products, gasoline/diesel odours, fumes and glasses, chemical/petroleum product spills, noise sometimes at levels in excess of 80 DBA, dusty environments, cramped quarters, slippery surfaces, pinch points, trip and overhead obstacles
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have DL with appropriate endorsements
- Must have 1 year experience operating Pilot Truck
- Clean Drivers Abstract
Must have Class 5 DLMust be able to read, write and speak English at a level that would allow the communication and comprehension of job-related information, instructions, regulations, signs, maps, MSDS guidelines, required paperwork, memos, etc.Basic mathematical skills are requiredMinimum 1 year experience as a Hotshot Truck Driver
Must be able to deal with time constraints to product delivery in a timely and safe mannerGood reasoning skills are necessary in order to apply established procedures safely and effectively while securing loads and operating a vehicle and to monitor continuously changing conditions and react appropriatelyAbility to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful mannerAbility to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlinesAbility to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high-level prioritization skillsStrong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detailAbility to work independently or as part of a teamEffective verbal and listening communication skills
