Communications Coordinator

Position Overview:
Living Classrooms Foundation is seeking a Communications Coordinator with exceptional
writing skills to craft compelling narratives that highlight our mission, programs, and
community impact. This role will focus on content development across various platforms,
ensuring clear, consistent, and engaging storytelling that resonates with our audience. The ideal
candidate is a strong writer who can transform complex information into accessible and
inspiring content.
Key Responsibilities:
Writing & Content Development
• Research, write, and edit newsletters, annual reports, website content, press releases,
blog posts, and donor communications to showcase the impact of Living Classrooms.
• Craft clear, engaging, and mission-aligned messaging for print and digital platforms.
• Develop success stories, participant testimonials, and program highlights using strength
based, asset-framing approaches.
• Collaborate with program directors to gather information and transform it into
compelling narratives.
• Maintain editorial consistency and storytelling quality across all written materials.
Brand & Messaging Strategy
• Ensure all communications maintain a consistent tone, voice, and branding across
platforms.
• Update and help manage a communications style guide to guide internal and external
messaging.
• Edit and refine materials to align with Living Classrooms’ mission and messaging
priorities.
Digital Content & Social Media
• Write and schedule social media posts that align with the organization’s content
strategy.
• Assist with developing digital fundraising campaigns (e.g., Giving Tuesday), crafting
persuasive donor appeals and online engagement content.
• Maintain and update website content to ensure clarity, relevance, and accessibility.
• Track and analyze social media and web engagement metrics to inform content
strategy.
Media & Event Communications
• Gather program updates and success stories from staff for newsletters and media
outreach.
• Cover and write event summaries, capturing key moments for post-event
communications.
• Assist in preparing media reports for board meetings and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in communications, content creation, or social media
management.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience in storytelling, marketing, or
journalism.
• Ability to craft clear, engaging, and mission-driven content for diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in social media management (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and
digital marketing.
• Familiarity with website management and basic analytics tools.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple
projects.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced
environment.
• Adaptable and able to reprioritize tasks to meet deadlines and organizational needs.
