Prep Cook Job Description

  • Cuts and chops vegetables.
  • Cuts and slices meat using an automatic meat slicer.
  • Weighs and portions food items.
  • Prepares soups and batters.
  • Baking required.
  • Retrieves food items from cooler, freezer, and stockroom.
  • Wipes counters.
  • Sweeps and mops floors.
  • Assists Busser & Dishwashers by bussing tables, washing dishes, and clean-up duties on an as-needed basis.
  • Assists with Line cook duties on an as-needed basis.
  • Other duties assigned by the manager.

Prep Cook Job Requirements

  • Requires continuous standing.
  • Must be able to frequently reach, bend, and squat.
  • May be required to lift and carry up to 35lbs unless assistance is requested.
  • Usually requires at least 6 months of previous cooking experience.
  • Must display a neat and clean appearance.
  • Must be able to read and follow recipes.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
