Clinician (MSW/MFT/PCC)

The Clinician (MSW/MFT/PCC) is working as part of a multidisciplinary team servicing metro lines and stations and nearby encampments in the LA metro area to address the unhoused population.  Clinicians will work on a team with outreach workers, medical staff, SUD counselors, and case managers in order to increase access to housing and services for unhoused riders. This program is in coordination with the LA Country Department of Health Services (DHS). The right candidate should have a passion for helping the unhoused and want to work in a team environment.

  1. Serves and protects Christ-Centered Ministries practices by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements.
  2. Maintains accurate documentation of service objectives and outcomes as well as other services in accordance with Federal, State, County and Christ-Centered Ministries.
  3. Secures client information and maintains client confidence by completing and safeguarding data. keeping client information confidential and in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  4. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations including acting as a mandated reporter.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of clients that need therapeutic intervention.
  • Work as the mental health provider of a multidisciplinary team providing psychoeducation and feedback to staff to ensure appropriate interventions and resources
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments as appropriate to determine and address client's needs.
  • Provide clinical services using Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care, and the Housing First models.
  • Encourage and promote self-management and provide assistance to build self-management skills.
  • Maintain required documentation and update client records in accordance with governmental and agency policy
  • Utilize team approach, through regular collaboration with multidisciplinary staff case managers, medical staff and paraprofessional staff to ensure clients’ health care needs are sufficiently met.
  • Participate in regular team meetings.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, case conferences and staff trainings.
  • Maintain registration, collect hours, and work towards licensure
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, etc.
  • Proof of Current License / Registration in State of California as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.
  • Experience dealing with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness and substance use disorder is a plus.
  • Experience in social service setting with working knowledge of case management systems and planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, Part-R, CPR and First Aid.
  • Knowledge of various Applications and Devices including but not limited to: Microsoft Office applications, Dropbox, Computers, iPads, mobile devices, etc.
  • Must have a valid CA driver license, have reliable transportation and a good driving record.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present persuasively.

Physical Requirements

This position requires walking, bending, using stairs, and kneeling. Must be able to participate in moderate lifting of at least 30 lbs. or more (suitcases, packages, etc.). Must be able to sit and stand for significant periods of time while working in metro stations or riding metro lines.

Workplace Environment

There is a risk of exposure to bodily fluids infections, contagious / blood borne diseases, and chemicals (cleaning agents), an exposed risk to varying, unpredictable situations (i.e., client behavior).
