CMA Skilled Long Term Care
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in an assisted living facility is responsible for administering prescribed medications to residents. The CMA ensures medications are accurately dispensed and documented, follow the 5 rights of medication administration, and monitors residents for any changes in health status. The role also involves maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, providing emotional support to residents, and communicating effectively with family members and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications to residents as per physician orders
- Document medication administration and any side effects or changes in resident condition
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or mental condition
- Maintain accurate and confidential records
- Foster a compassionate and supportive environment for residents
- Receive and follow directions from licensed nurses (RN/LPN)
- Communicate promptly with the nurse
Qualifications:
- Valid CMA certification
- Previous experience in long-term care preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
