SUMMARY: As a member of the Mobile Crisis Team and in collaboration with all components of the Youth Crisis Stabilization System, the Mobile Crisis Team Clinician provides crisis intervention services to clients, their families and caregivers in a professional manner. The Mobile Crisis Team Clinician assesses plans and formulates recommendations toward the resolution of the crisis and its underlining or precipitating factors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES of the Mobile Crisis Team Clinician, but are not limited to:

  •  Answer crisis line, assess and provide interventions in the community and referrals when necessary;
  • Observe to identify potential underlining cause of crisis situation and subsequently provide on-site intervention including mental health and risk assessments, mental status exams, safety plans, and follow-up plans for youths and their families/caregivers in crisis situations;
  • Complete required documentation, provide clear and concise professionally written reports which detail the nature of the crisis and subsequent assessments and plans;
  • Refer client(s) and caregiver(s) to suitable resources and advocate on their behalf if required;
  • Engage clients' families in the resolution process, whenever possible;
  • As a team member, provide support to other team members and act in a consultative capacity;
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with client(s) and families, and follows all other policies and procedures;
  • Provide triage and referral;
  • Provide consultation to collateral agencies such as Children's Mental Health, Child and Family Services, schools, probation, and police services;
  • Facilitate topic-specific training sessions as needed to assist the staff team in developing skills to implement treatment plans;
  • Work in consultation with other Youth Crisis Stabilization System staff and external agencies, to ensure continuity and communication throughout Youth Crisis Stabilization System;
  • Represent the Youth Crisis Stabilization System program both within and outside of The Link;
  • Maintain open communication within the agency and fulfill administrative duties as assigned;
  • Maintain clinical/professional development through reading, attending workshops and peer and clinical consultation on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate should demonstrate the following competencies which incorporate the Seven Sacred Teachings.

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Services or accreditation from a governing Human Services College (e.g. RSW), a combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Minimum of four (4) years work experience in a supervised clinical setting
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtain
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months;
  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
  • Crisis De-escalation Training
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs will be considered an asset
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable drivers abstract (subject to approval)
  • Access to a vehicle for work purposes is required

SALARY:  $24.00 - $26.00 per hour based on experience and education. 

HOURS OF WORK:  Variety of hours and shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, overnight shifts and holidays.
