Housekeeper - Licensed Dementia Housing

Days/Hours of Work: Part-time – Wednesday and Thursday week 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (15 hours per week)

POSITION SUMMARY:  
Under the direction of the RN on shift, the Housekeeper provides housekeeping to assigned common areas and resident rooms and participates in the maintenance of a safe, sanitary workplace.  The Housekeeper also reports resident concerns, building emergencies and maintenance required to their supervisor.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Carry out general cleaning duties, practicing and maintaining established standards for proper cleanliness as sanitation required by the Health Department  
  • Daily tidying & cleaning of Common Areas and weekly cleaning of resident’s suites including kitchen, bathroom, vacuuming and dusting   
  • Spot cleaning for spills as needed  
  • Empty garbage and recycling daily  
  • Terminal clean when a suite is vacated  
  • Extra cleaning duties are required during a pandemic or any other Infectious Disease Outbreak   
  • Thorough weekly cleaning in each suite  
  • Communicate necessary information to other staff using the Communication Book 
  • Communicates to RN, any concerns, or changes in a resident’s condition.  
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures  
  • Know and follow health & safety requirements affecting the job, correct unsafe conditions immediately and report them to the supervisor  
  • Promote and maintain positive communication and relationships among staff and residents   
  • Other relevant duties as assigned  
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:  
  • High School Diploma
  • Previous housekeeping experience   
  • Experience in working with Seniors in an Assisted Living or Residential Care setting is considered an asset   
  • Valid FOODSAFE Certification   
  • Current First Aid Certification  
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal  
  • Ability to effectively manage time to complete tasks within schedule shift   
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, empathy, patience and concern in providing quality service  
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members  
  • Ability to use housekeeping tools such as laundry machines, vacuum cleaners etc.  
  • Skilled in the use of MS 365 (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
