Position Title: English as an Additional Language (EAL) Tutor

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

We are seeking an English as an Additional Language (EAL) Tutor who is knowledgeable and qualified to assist students in the Lower School (Kindergarten to Grade 6). Tutoring sessions can be one-on-one or in a small group setting. All tutoring will occur on the Ridley campus in the Learning Centre. 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

       Meet with students, as needed, over the course of the year (at student discretion and based on tutor availability);

       Communicate with the family, Learning Strategies teacher and classroom teacher on a consistent basis

       Plan and deliver instruction and/or practise that meets the needs of the student based on assessment, teacher and family feedback

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

       Post secondary degree in English or 1 year of post-secondary education in the related field of study 

       Experience teaching or tutoring lower school aged students an asset

       Knowledge of teaching techniques and learning styles

       Familiarity with the Ontario Curriculum 

       Ability to travel to Ridley College for student meetings

       OCT considered an asset
