Position Summary
Responsible for the recovery suite and donor care bay maintenance/upkeep, decontamination and sterilization of instruments, and archiving of tissue typing materials and blood samples for organ recovery. This includes adherence to the AATB, OPTN, and FDA guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Assures instrument trays are complete and that they are identified and marked appropriately
- Assures instruments are maintained in working conditions and repaired or replaced as needed
- Assures all instrumentation is cleaned and sterilized in a timely manner
- Maintains sterilization and decontamination equipment in proper working conditions
- Archives tissue typing materials and blood samples
- Ensures that decontamination, sterilization, and DCU areas are cleaned and maintained
- Assures all received coroner information as well as coroner supplies are distributed to proper coroner representatives
- Assist in the stocking of the packed supply room and PPE carts
- Completes all required documentation of decontamination and sterilization of instruments
- Prepare biopsy slides, scan, and upload for review by pathologist
- Other duties as assigned

Work Environment
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, airborne illnesses, hazardous materials, pharmacological agents with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.
- May, at times, have exposure to blood, packaged organs and tissues for transplant and/or research in a hospital setting or while in the office.
- Possible mental and visual fatigue associated with detailed work
- Work in a fast-paced environment with a sometimes demanding time schedule
Physical Demands
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

Work Hours
- Full time, On-Call position
- Scheduled up to 12 days/24 call shifts per month
- Rotating office schedule to include weekends
- Holiday call rotation of each individual holiday
- Maintains personal and professional balance, takes care of self
Education and Experience
- One year of related experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Obtain and maintain CBSPD certification after one year of employment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Ability to deliver effective and professional verbal and written communication
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external colleagues
- Ability to apply common sense understanding and to solve problems
- Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology
