Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the hands-on maintenance and supervision of the facility’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems. This role ensures the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations, while guiding and supporting the maintenance team to maintain a safe, comfortable, and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate maintenance staff, delegating tasks and ensuring timely completion of work orders.
- Develop and follow maintenance policies, procedures, and safety standards in compliance with OSHA, ADA, and healthcare regulations.
- Conduct inspections of equipment, work areas, and patient-care spaces to ensure safety and proper functioning.
- Assist with preventive maintenance programs, ensuring all critical systems are serviced regularly.
- Support collaboration with clinical and support departments (e.g., Nursing, Dietary) to minimize disruptions to patient care.
- Maintain maintenance records and report key findings or issues to facility management.
- Partnering with on-site security to ensure the building is fully secured and safe for residents, staff, and visitors
Technical & Hands-On Duties
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergency situations, and urgent repair requests.
- Maintain and operate boilers, generators, compressors, air handlers, chillers, and other critical equipment.
- Conduct painting, plastering, furniture/equipment assembly, and minor repair or renovation tasks.
- Install and maintain telecom, paging, and electronic systems for staff and patient use.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow/ice removal to ensure accessibility and safety.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities, ideally in a healthcare or large facility setting.
- Knowledge of healthcare building codes, safety regulations, and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions and respond to emergencies calmly.
Other Requirements
- Must hold applicable licenses or certifications required by state and local codes.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, overtime, and respond to emergency call-ins as needed.
