Roll Operator

Willbanks Metals, Inc. is seeking an experienced Roll Operator to join our Welding Department. This position is responsible for setting up and operating plate and section rolling equipment to form steel components to production specifications while supporting safe, efficient, high-quality fabrication. We are looking for a seasoned operator who can read shop drawings, work accurately, and help keep production moving.

·        Set up and operate plate and section rolls to form steel to required radii, diameters, and tolerances.

·        Interpret shop drawings, flat patterns, weld symbols, and work orders to confirm forming requirements.

·        Perform pre-bending, cone rolling, rerolling, and corrective adjustments to meet job specifications.

·        Check dimensions using tapes, squares, templates, and other measuring tools throughout production.

·        Coordinate with fitters and welders to support proper fit-up, alignment, and downstream fabrication.

·        Safely move and position material with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.

·        Complete basic equipment checks, maintain housekeeping standards, and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

·        Minimum 10 years of recent experience operating plate or section rolls in a fabrication, welding, or heavy industrial environment.

·        Strong ability to read blueprints, flat patterns, weld symbols, and production documents.

·        Advanced knowledge of heavy plate rolling, large diameter forming, and material behavior.

·        Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and safe rigging practices.

·        Strong measurement and shop math skills, including reading a tape accurately.

·        Reliable attendance, strong safety awareness, and a quality-driven approach to production.

·        Pay range: $33.00 to $35.00 per hour.

·        Non-exempt hourly position.

·        Immediate hiring need; this position is expected to be filled as soon as possible.

·        Schedule and shift details will be discussed during the hiring process.

·        Industrial shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, moving equipment, and heavy steel components.

·        Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and material handling throughout the shift.

·        Use of required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
