SUMMARY:  As a member of the Mobile Crisis Team and in collaboration with all components of the Youth Crisis Stabilization System, the Clinician (Clinical Follow-up Facilitator), in collaboration with youth parents, community organizations arrange the discharge of youth from the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). This is a 6-month Part-time term role, and a Unionized position with Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  of the Clinician (Clinical Follow-up Facilitator), but are not limited to:

  • Complete an assessment of youth’ mental health needs while at the CSU.
  • Support the CSU staff in the evaluation of immediate safety risks and intervene in a consultative, timely fashion to reduce the possibility of harm.
  • Provide re-assessment of crisis while at the CSU, develop a follow-up plan with youth and caregivers, which includes referrals to appropriate resources, identify existing services and incorporate existing treatment plans in development of the intervention plan.
  • Support the development and implementation of treatment plans.
  • Provide consultation to collateral community agencies such as Mental Health, Medical, Child and Family Services, schools, and probation.
  • Collaborate with the YCSS Team by providing input to the clinical aspects of case management which involve therapeutic issues, such as intake, treatment plans, discharge planning, support requests and contact with collaterals.
  • Write clear and concise reports which detail the nature of the crisis, the results of assessments, the nature of intervention, and plans for safety and follow-up on discharge from the CSU.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as directed by the Direct Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate should demonstrate the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Services or accreditation from a governing Human Services College (e.g., RSW), a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Undergraduate degree in Human Services or a combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in a supervised clinical setting
  • Valid driver’s license, personal car/vehicle and acceptable driver’s abstract required. 
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtain
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months
  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
  • De-Escalation Training
  • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs will be considered an asset

SALARY RANGE: $52,194.68 - 73,489.69

HOURS OF WORK:   weekday, evenings, weekends- Flex Agreement (Varied hours per week)
