SUD Out-Patient Nurse
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of detox nursing, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients based on comprehensive assessment data
- Monitor patients’ progress and adjust care plans as needed in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team
- Educate patients about the detoxification process and what to expect during their stay
- Answer questions and address concerns in a compassionate and professional manner
- Serve as a resource for other nurses and healthcare professionals regarding detox care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to help improve the overall care provided to patients
- Keep abreast of new developments in the field of detox nursing through continued education and professional development opportunities
- Serve on committees and work groups as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Education
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current state license
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
- 2+ years of experience as an RN, preferably in detox or addiction treatment
- Knowledge of detoxification process and withdrawal management protocols
- Ability to assess patient needs and provide care accordingly
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathetic and compassionate bedside manner
