Northern Cochise Community Hospital is seeking a detail‑oriented and customer‑focused Human Resources Assistant to join our HR team. This role provides essential administrative and operational support to ensure smooth HR processes across the hospital, clinics, and affiliated locations. This is position is on-site position and Full time Monday-Friday

The Human Resources Assistant supports the daily operations of the HR Department by assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee records, compliance tracking, and staff support. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Hiring Support

  • Assist with posting job openings on internal and external job boards.
  • Schedule interviews and communicate effectively with applicants.
  • Coordinate pre‑employment steps including background checks, drug screens, immunization verification, and health screenings.
  • Ensure hiring documents are complete, accurate, and compliant with policy.

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Prepare new‑hire packets, employee files, and orientation materials.
  • Assist with New Employee Orientation (NEO) and system onboarding steps.
  • Partner with Infection Prevention, IT, and department leaders to ensure all onboarding requirements are met before start dates.

HR Records & Compliance

  • Maintain secure and compliant personnel files in accordance with HIPAA, NCCH policies, and federal/state laws.
    • Track employee certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, licensure, etc.) and notify staff of upcoming expirations.
    • Support CMS, OSHA, and Rural Health Clinic (RHC) compliance requirements related to HR documentation.
    • Assist with training and performance evaluation tracking.

    Employee Relations & Support

    • Respond to routine HR inquiries about policies, forms, and hospital procedures.
    • Support employee engagement and recognition programs.
    • Assist with confidential investigations by scheduling meetings and preparing documentation.

    Administrative Support

    • Prepare memos, forms, letters, and internal communications.
    • Assist with audits, policy updates, and special HR projects.
    • Organize and maintain both digital and physical HR files.
    • Maintain confidentiality at all times.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • 1–2 years of administrative experience (HR or healthcare preferred).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and file management.
    • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a busy environment.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

    Work Environment

    • Standard office setting within the HR Department.
    • Regular interaction with hospital staff at all levels.
    • Requires prolonged periods of sitting, computer work, and document handling.
    • May occasionally require lifting up to 20 lbs (files, orientation materials, etc.).
    • Occasional flexible hours for events or urgent HR needs.
