PRN Endoscopy Nurse
JOB TITLE: REGISTERED NURSE
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: DIRECTOR OF NURSING
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors,
and physicians

4. Ability of perform any nursing duty asked
5. Have extensive knowledge of nursing techniques
6. Pass security check
REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or GED certification
2. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
3. Active license within the state of South Carolina
4. CPR certification/ACLS certification
5. IV conscious sedation training
6. Evidence of leadership qualities
7. Strong ethical and moral character references
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Communication
A. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and
co-workers
B. Documents completely and accurately

E. Respects patients’ rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
II. Duties
A. Assists the physician in providing pre-procedure, procedure and post-procedure care to the
patient
B. Assists in the admission of patients to pre-procedure and post-procedure area according to established guidelines
C. Implements appropriate nursing activities to provide safe and individualized nursing care
D. Addresses patient needs during admission to the endoscopy room, with attention to
requirements specific to the outpatient setting
E. Identifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and
communicates with all members of the medical team
F. Administers medication per order of physician and based on condition of patient
G. Provides comfort, reassurance to patient and maintains patient’s privacy and dignity
H. Explains procedures and care to the patient
I. Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation pre-procedure, during
procedure, and post-procedure
J. Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care
personnel and documenting records accordingly
K. Assists in explaining the physician’s post-procedure instructions to patient/family
L. Performs with competence in emergency situations
M. Post-procedure phone call to follow up with patient day after procedure
