Overview
The Education Specialist will play a crucial role in providing support related to educational technology as well as gathering data-driven insights to support accreditation, regulation, and strategic decision-making across Robertson College. The ideal candidate will be adept at working with a variety of learning platforms and various data sources, including Explorance Blue, Salesforce, Vitalsource, and D2L Brightspace, to support user access, analyze student performance, faculty effectiveness, and institutional trends. This role requires a blend of customer service skills, technical skills, analytical thinking, and effective communication to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development:
Participate in program development and course development projects.
Complete the secondary review process for new course development and design processes.
Complete course revision requests from instructors as assigned; collaborate with subject matter experts to complete minor course revisions.
Make minor revisions as required to Master course templates based on errors or inconsistencies.
Review program documentation (outlines, frameworks); correct formatting, branding and language and mechanics errors.
Maintain organization of course files and documentation.
Complete course review processes as per procedure to ensure quality course development and delivery.
Collaborate in the development review and revision of process documentation; make updates as required.
Learning Technology and Courseware
Request distribution rights for new textbooks and resources for new programs; follow up with publishers as required.
Add course hours and textbook information to Master Course Information Sheet ensuring currency and accuracy.
Collaborate on courseware integration projects.
Assist with access to publisher courseware accounts for students and instructors.
Updates the Courseware Integration Guide as necessary.
Connect with the publisher as needed to access instructor and student resources; add to Master template and offerings as needed.
Update Master templates with information about new textbooks or new textbook editions cross-referencing the textbook as needed; add direct ebook links to course Masters.
Work with publishers and SME to find alternative textbooks for textbooks going out of distribution; collaborate on course updates.
Supporting the Operations Team in auditing ebook and courseware usage to ensure accurate invoicing.
Data Extraction, Analysis and Reporting:
Complete data-related reports for accreditation or partnerships.
Extract, clean, and integrate data from different platforms, including Explorance Blue (student and course evaluations), Salesforce (student enrollment and CRM data), and D2L Brightspace (learning management system data like grades and course engagement).
Develop and maintain data pipelines and processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility for various departments.
Conduct in-depth analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies related to student success, retention rates, and academic outcomes.
Create comprehensive dashboards and reports using data visualization tools to present key performance indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders in a clear and understandable format.
Support academic and administrative departments by generating custom reports and ad-hoc analysis to address specific business questions.
Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities
Provide on-campus support for activities, assist with general tasks, and ensure the efficient execution of day-to-day operations.
Attend faculty/staff meetings and training sessions as needed.
Participate proactively in performance appraisals.
Implement policies, procedures and processes in accordance with College standards.
Support active interdepartmental cooperation with other departments such as Admissions, Finance, Operations, and Workforce.
Perform other duties/participate in special projects as assigned.
A degree or diploma in Data Analytics or a related discipline (such as Data Science, Statistics).
2+ years of experience in a data analysis role, preferably within an educational or technology-focused environment.
Adult Education Certificate is an asset.
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Familiarity with data from educational platforms like Explorance Blue, Salesforce, and D2L Brightspace.
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets for data cleaning and analysis.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Strong presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work in a diverse, inclusive environment.
A clear criminal records check and child abuse registry check.
Work hours - Monday to Friday (25 hours weekly)
