Position Summary

This position will serve as an integral member of the LOPA Foundation team. The Program Manager will work with the CFO and the LOPA Foundation Board for the development and execution of philanthropy strategies to ensure a diverse and sustainable revenue portfolio to support the LOPA Foundation.


Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with the executive team to create and implement a comprehensive philanthropy strategy and annual operating plan that promotes mission achievement and financial sustainability.
  • Identify funding sources to support the LOPA Foundation’s initiatives.
  • Identify, develop, write and submit grant proposals and solicitation materials.
  • Ensure donor retention through a stewardship plan that includes appropriate, timely and accurate gift entry, acknowledgement and recognition.
  • Plan and coordinate Foundation sponsored events including Krewe de Life, Trail Run, and other developed events.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to coordinate processes for community sponsorship requests.
  • Coordinate the annual installation of pavers and etchings in the Donor Memorial Park.
  • Prepare fundraising reports from Giveffect for Finance to facilitate monthly LOPA Foundation reconciliations and annual 990 compilation
  • Responsible for meeting coordination and logistics and paperwork, including annual agreements and new member initial paperwork, for LOPA Foundation Board.
  • Maintain philanthropy activity within the CRM.

Job Role Expectations

  • Act as main contact for requests for information about financial giving to the LOPA Foundation, including memorial gifts, Donor Memorial Park, unrestricted and restricted donations.
  • Maintain a Gift Policy Manual for the LOPA Foundation.
  • Serves as an external representative of the Foundation at statewide and national fundraising events.
  • Acts as the internal liaison between the Foundation and Agency Fundraising events statewide and nationally.
  • Effectively communicate how the philanthropic strategies of the LOPA Foundation support LOPA and its community.
  • Maintain accurate information in Foundation/Philanthropy dashboards.

Role Progression

This role may be eligible for progression to a Director position if one is made available. Promotion to Director will be at the discretion of the Executive team.


Work Environment

  • Possible mental and visual fatigue associated with detail work.
  • This position requires travel as needed.
  • This position has possible exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and airborne illness.
  • Employees may at times be in a hospital setting and while in office setting may have exposure to blood, packaged organs and tissues for transplant and/ or research.

Physical Demands

  • May require extended periods of sitting
  • Requires driving when travel is needed
  • Ability to hear and communicate with others verbally and electronically to exchange information.
  • May require work that includes moving or lifting objects up to 50 pounds

Work Hours

Full time, salaried position. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm with flex

time available at the discretion of the direct supervisor.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university.
  • Relevant professional experience in philanthropy required, ideally in a rapidly- evolving institution.
  • Competence in a wide range of philanthropic work, including stewardship of individual, foundation and corporate donors, donors and potential donor cultivation and research, grant writing, and special events.
  • A successful track record in executing on strategy, setting priorities, managing multiple projects and working effectively under pressure to achieve individual and organizational goals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, reliable and flexible; thrives in a fast-paced environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity, finds solutions and is able to think strategically about the organization
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, board portal applications, and CRM software
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Adapt to using a variety of software applications and social media platforms
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to see the organizational goals as they relate to the “big picture”
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
