Position Title:

BARBACK/BUSSER JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Reports to:

GM

 

Job purpose

The Barback/Busser works behind the scenes to make the operation of the bar and restaurant run smoothly. Great Barback/Bussers are those that don’t need to be told or asked to get something. They are constantly aware of what’s on hand in the bar and what’s needed and gets items before a bartender runs out. A Barback/Busser has interaction with customers which allows them to relay key information Bartenders or Manager.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •      Performs guest service at the bar by making sure that all guests are seated at a            clean and properly set up bar/table, that all guests receive prompt attention, and that        bar/tables are cleaned quickly and ready for the next guests
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example
  • Make decisions and solve problems in the interest of 100% guest satisfaction
  • Carefully monitors the operation of the store and assists the manager in identifying and solving present and potential guest problems
  • Follows Barrio operational policies and procedures, including safety and security, to ensure the safety of all employees and guests during each shift
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays
  • Meet store operating policies and standards of safety and security, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Comply with a dress code that prohibits displaying tattoos on face or throat.
  • Available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift
  • Ensure there is always enough back up liquor
  • Runs to storage areas to get back up products as needed and change kegs when required
  • Pick up empty glasses and bottles from the tables and dining room
  • Wipe down tables in the bar area and dining room
  • Re-stock garnishes and mixes

Always ensure there is enough clean glassware and re-stock ice when needed

  • Run food to the bar and tables in the bar area and dining room
  • Clean and maintain restrooms throughout the shift
  • Barback/Bussers may not pour or serve alcohol.

 

Qualifications

  • Read, write and comprehend the English language
  • Work with cold and extremely hot food products, utensils, dinner plates and glassware
  • Work in a fast-paced environment consistent with changing business volume and demands
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team at all times
  • Ability to build relationships

 

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, deliver and serve from trays weighing up to 50 pounds throughout shift
  • Lift a maximum of 25 pounds overhead.
  • Ability to stand and walk continually throughout shift
