Corporate Partnerships Manager
General Summary: The Corporate Partnerships Manager strategically and organizationally assists the Development department in reaching its financial goals and leveraging available resources to fulfill the Zoo’s mission. Through detail-oriented data management and consistent project management, this role plays a critical part in the overall success of the department. Additionally, the Corporate Partnerships Manager will support the Zoo’s conservation, sustainability, education, and DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion) goals.
Essential Functions:
Primary Functions:
- Under the direction of the Vice President of Strategy & Development, manage the Zoo’s corporate membership program, including prospecting, invoicing, event planning, and serving as the main liaison to all corporate partners, as it pertains to the Zoo
- Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:
- Ensure that the Zoo meets revenue goals related to corporate partnerships
- Consistent up-to-date tracking of corporate partner revenue, monthly reporting, and YOY comparison reports
- Annual outreach to all members
- Host one-two corporate member events each year
- Prospect outreach to top employers in Baltimore and surrounding counties
- Pursuit of prospects identified through the Development Committee, as instructed by the Vice President of Strategy & Development
- Pursuit of prospects in Tyson’s Corner
- Management of non-event-related corporate sponsorships, i.e. on-grounds sponsors
- Creating and managing an inventory of on-grounds sponsorship opportunities
- Contribute to the achievement of Development focused financial goals by researching and cultivating avenues for revenue generation;
- Develop partnerships with community organizations with the goal of broadening the Zoo’s reach within the community. Ensure partnerships and event offerings meet diversity, accessibility, equity and inclusivity standards;
- Responsible for the creation and distribution of an engaging sponsor/ major donor newsletter;
- Work collaboratively with marketing department to identify and implement the best marketing strategies;
- Conduct outreach and solicit support for the Zoo;
- Support writing, editing, and sending sponsorship and donor proposals;
- Responsible for detail, accuracy and management of corporate member and sponsor data in database;
- Responsible for tracking corporate member and sponsor/donor admission codes;
- Responsible for organizing corporate member data into weekly reports, to be submitted at the direction of the Vice President of Strategy & Development;
- Track sponsorship deliverables and prepare ROI packages;
- Schedule current and prospective corporate member and sponsor meetings, and assist in subsequent follow up;
- Develop fundraising materials;
- Coordinate all aspects of the corporate member events, including management of the internal staff and support departments, vendors, deliveries, set up and tear down, etc;
- Manage all contracts, COIs, and financial records related to this role’s scope of work, in accordance with the protocols set by the CFO;
- Collaborate with volunteer department to identify volunteer roles to meet business needs;
- Provide event support and assist other departments for cross utilization of skills and manpower;
- Perform other duties as assigned; and,
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Zoo.
Communication (Internal and External):
- Answer telephones and respond to inquiries;
- Skilled at building relationships by phone and email, and leverage relationships, as appropriate;
- Manage and process ingoing and outgoing Development correspondence (acknowledgement letters, holiday cards, etc.)
Management of Resources (Financial, Human Resources, Facilities):
- Responsible for management of department budget and achievement of established departmental goals;
- Responsible for Altru data input, data ownership, and accuracy;
- Support the management of team coordinators;
- Fiduciary responsibilities include ticket sales, cash handling, selling inventory at festivals and events, verifying department invoices, and approving purchase orders as needed; and,
- Coordinate IT needs of the Development department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience/Training:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in non-profit development, sales, fundraising, or related field required;
- Demonstrated sales and customer service experience required;
- Obtain and maintain TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) Certification;
- Valid driver's license; and,
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Excel, Word and Point of Sales software required.

- Able to read with a high level of comprehension, produce professional written correspondence, communicate in spoken English in an articulate manner;
Equipment:
- Must be able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computer, telephone, radio, and vehicles, etc.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to stand and remain active for an eight-hour shift;
- Must be able to walk large areas of the Zoo as needed;
- Must be able to work in an outdoor weather environment in all seasons and weather, including heat/humidity, cold temperatures, and/or wet conditions;
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays, and special events; and,
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move objects.
