Position Overview

The Senior Network Administrator will play a key role in managing both on-premises and cloud network infrastructure within a 24/7 SOC/NOC environment. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining secure, high-availability networks that span traditional data centers and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in enterprise networking, cloud networking architectures (VPCs, VPNs, and interconnects), and SD-WAN deployments. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical proficiency, operational discipline, and a commitment to supporting mission-critical systems that protect national interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and cloud-based network infrastructures (AWS/Azure VPCs, routing, and peering).

  • Ensure secure, reliable connectivity between on-premises networks and cloud environments.

  • Support SOC/NOC operations to maintain network availability, optimize performance, and support incident response activities.

  • Manage and secure network devices (firewalls, routers, switches) following DISA STIGs and DoD compliance standards.

  • Integrate and maintain network monitoring tools for proactive performance and security visibility (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk, or Nagios).

  • Implement and maintain network segmentation, Zero Trust principles, and access control policies.

  • Collaborate with systems, security, and cloud teams to ensure compliance and consistent configuration management.

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation using ACAS, Tenable/Nessus, or equivalent DoD-approved tools.

  • Maintain detailed network diagrams, documentation, and configuration baselines for audits and continuity.

  • Evaluate and deploy emerging network and cloud technologies to enhance performance, scalability, and resilience.

Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance (mandatory)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years of experience in network administration or engineering supporting federal or DoD environments

  • Strong expertise in TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto network equipment

  • Experience configuring and maintaining SD-WAN environments

  • Proficiency in cloud networking (AWS/Azure VPCs, route tables, NAT gateways, VPN tunnels, hybrid connectivity)

  • Familiarity with network security tools and frameworks (ACAS, Tenable, DISA STIGs, RMF)

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II/III certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CASP+)

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or AWS/Azure Network Specialty

  • Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Ansible)

  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and software-defined networking (SDN) concepts

  • Prior experience supporting SOC/NOC operations or Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) networks
