Hours Worked: Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Friday 8:00 to 3:00 pm
Starting Salary: $17 to $18 an hour

Job Summary:
The PCC position is responsible for providing clients
access to care and treatment through appointment-based availability of audiology
services at Texas Hearing Institute. This position ensures timely audiology
services through scheduling by acting as a liaison between the patient and our
providers. The PCC also assists audiologists with translations during clinical
appointments, acts as a test assist during pediatric hearing tests by playing
and interacting with children of all ages and assists our audiology team
outside of clinic by providing hearing screenings at local public schools. In
addition, the PCC is responsible for ordering and checking in various hearing
technology for children diagnosed with hearing loss.
Responsibility/Duties:
- Schedules appointments for new and returning patients
- Translations for clients and their families
- Translates patient documents for CI consults
- Sends out hearing aids for repair and contacts FedEx/UPS for pick up
- Returns HA orders for credit as needed
- Checks in all new/repaired hearing aid orders and enters information into IMS
- Faxes audiology reports to pediatricians
- Emails reports to all parents for every visit on a daily basis
- Makes reminder phone calls every day for future appointments
- Sends text messages for appointments
- Answers telephone for audiology department, determines nature of call
- Monitors the daily schedule
- Gathers records, documents and forms for patients -updates and inputs client information into IMS
- Submits Baha orders, orders BAHA equipment, checks on Baha repairs, schedules new Baha fittings
- Assists with walk-in equipment pick up requests
- Performs community hearing screenings – THI will provide the training and certification
- Performs test assist duties for the audiologist – engage the child during testing
- Schedules walking out clients
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual - Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish, including active listening and the ability to effectively communicate with employees, parents and various pediatric professionals
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to assist families and work with children of all ages
- Ability to communicate with parents and professionals through various modalities: telephone, email, fax, and virtual meetings (Zoom, Teams, Go To Meeting) to give and obtain necessary information
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
- IMS – Electronic Medical Record System: On the job training
- Use of office equipment, i.e. computers, iPad, scanner, fax machine, projector and screen
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
Physical Requirements:
Stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; public speaking; hear; see; bend, able to lift 15 pounds; drive a motor vehicle. Job requires extensive computer use, employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard/mouse and computer screen for long periods of time. Flu vaccination required, provided by THI at no cost to employees. COVID-19 vaccination required.
