Skilled Labourer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Skilled Labourer to join our team at Thunderbird Show Park. The ideal candidate will perform general maintenance tasks and assist with basic construction projects such as fence installations and facility repairs. Additionally, you will support event activities during our equestrian competitions, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment, systems, and facilities. Your role will be essential in maintaining safety, efficiency, and reliability across our operations. Experience with machinery and a Class 1 license or Class 5 with a code 20 is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:Event Support:
- Load hay, feed, and bedding deliveries as required.
- Set up and move tents as necessary.
- Set up and remove portable stalls and roofs.
- Perform fencing repairs.
- Maintain driveways and assist with general event setup duties.
- Investigate water and power issues at RV sites.
- Collaborate with other departments to complete ad hoc tasks.
- Report directly to the Director of Facility Operations.
Maintenance:
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to ensure functionality.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair facility structures, fences, and irrigation systems.
- Maintain equipment and machinery to ensure they are operating at peak performance.
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete tasks promptly and efficiently.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and parts used.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve facility and equipment issues.
- Follow safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist with the installation of new construction projects and systems as needed.
- Report any significant issues to the maintenance supervisor or facility manager.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or vocational training in maintenance is a plus).
- Proven experience in facility and equipment maintenance.
- Strong background in machinery operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Experience troubleshooting heavy equipment and machinery.
- Valid Class 1 driver’s license (for driving and operating machinery or trucks with trailers).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in diverse indoor and outdoor environments.
- Previous experience in a similar role in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Class 1 driver’s license or Class 5 with code 20
- Experience in machinery operation.
- Background in customer service.
- Skills in irrigation installation and repair.
