RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responds to requests for technical assistance from potential and existing family child care providers

Responds to Office of Child Care requests for assistance to providers who are experiencing compliance with regulations issues

Provides on-site technical assistance family child care programs as requested

Leads and coordinates the Child Development Associate (CDA) Project. Assists family child care professionals with obtaining their CDA.

Leads and coordinates the National Association Family Child Care (NAFCC) cohort. Assist family child care providers with the accreditation process.

Answers telephone calls relating to training and technical assistance

Plans and facilitates early childhood trainings to professionals which happens in the evenings and Saturday mornings.

Assist family child care providers with the Maryland State Department of Education’s Quality Initiatives (ie. Maryland EXCELS, The  Maryland Child  Care Credential Program) 

Provides outreach to new family child care providers when they become licensed

Develops technical assistance resources for family child care programs

Represents BCCCRC at Office of Child Care orientation sessions for new providers and  during outreach visits

Attends and participates in all Network Technical Assistance meetings and trainings

Complete monthly reports and enters data into collection system

Perform other tasks necessary to keep BCCCRC functioning in an orderly and productive fashion

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years’ experience teaching children and adults

Experience in developing training sessions for adults

Experience may be substitute for degree


SKILLS:

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of Maryland child care delivery system

Ability to communicate effectively with child care providers, peers and other professionals

Administrative and organization skills

Proficiency in the use of technology

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. this position requires some evening and Saturday hours to facilitate professional development classes.  Work hours will be adjusted to maintain a 35-hour work week.
