Grand Strand Hotel Service Company is looking for Food and Beverage specifically Kitchen Prep, Dishwashers, and Cook for its multiple work sites in Myrtle Beach South Carolina.

Responsibilities and tasks as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes, we need a person who is diligent and willing to improve on the job and to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.

Kitchen Prep:

  • Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Dishwashers:

  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through the dish machine.
  • Sort and stack clean dishes. Carry clean dishes to cook’s line and other proper storage areas. Rewash soiled dishes before delivering.
  • Change dishwater in dish machine every hour.
  • Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand.
  • Remove trash and garbage to the dumpster.
  • Set up or break down dishwashing area.
  • Clean and roll/unroll mats.
  • Fill/empty soak tubs with cleaning/sanitizing solutions.
  • Sweep/mop floors.
  • Assemble/disassemble dish machine.
  • Sweep up trash around the exterior of restaurant and garbage dumpster.
  • Conduct general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed.
  • Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.
  • Notify manager any time dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety standard temperatures.
  • Do not touch dirty dishes before touching clean dishes without washing hands first.
  • Other duties as directed.

Cook:

  • set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
  • Cook food in various utensils or grillers
  • Check food while cooking to stir or turn
  • Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Check the quality of ingredients
  • Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
  • Proven experience as a cook
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Very good communication skills
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina
