Maintenance Support Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintenance Support Manager leads the Maintenance Planning function, overseeing the planning of maintenance activities and supporting maintenance production. This role ensures regulatory compliance, supports efficient aircraft maintenance execution, and manages a team of planners to create detailed work packages and action cards aligned with aircraft-specific maintenance programs. The Maintenance Support Manager has strong technical knowledge, hands-on planning experience, and a current A&P certification.

 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.      Oversee and manage the Maintenance Planning team, ensuring accurate and timely planning of all maintenance activities for aircraft undergoing completions and maintenance.

2.      Ensure proper development and issuance of work packages, including action cards, in accordance with approved maintenance programs and customer requirements.

3.      Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Materials, and Quality departments to align maintenance plans, schedules, and material availability.

4.      Review and interpret Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and regulatory documents to ensure compliance and proper planning.

5.      Support the development of maintenance schedules and check flow to optimize downtime and resource allocation.

6.      Track and manage maintenance timelines and requirements for each aircraft program, including storage, preservation, and recurring tasks.

7.      Collaborate with Materials to ensure required parts are available in alignment with planned work, support part forecasting and procurement.

8.      Ensure proper documentation, organization, and achieving of all maintenance planning records and packages.

9.      Provide technical oversight and mentorship to the planning staff, fostering accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.

10.   Support reporting and analysis of planned vs. actual performance metrics and drive corrective actions as needed.

11.   Ensure planning adheres to FAA regulations and Repair Station procedures.

12.   Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

1.      Valid FAA A&P license (required).

2.      5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance planning or program management; prior leadership experience preferred.

3.      Familiarity with Airbus and Boeing platforms and completion center environments highly desired.

4.      Experience with planning software and ERP/MRP systems.

5.      Familiarity with civil aviation regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, etc.).

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.      Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building skills.

2.      Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, cross-functional environment.

3.      Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

4.      Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5.      Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling tools (MS Project preferred).

6.      Understanding of maintenance manuals, IPCs, engineering drawings, and other technical data.

7.      Knowledge of lean practices and continuous improvement is a plus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The office building where this position works is a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues in the immediate vicinity of the workstation. The employee in this position will experience occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements when called upon to locate personnel working inside or outside of a Hangar.
